Alex Bertulis-Fernandes is a writer, stand-up comedian and artist based in London.

Her work explores her experience of being a neurodivergent and mixed-race woman who struggles with feeling both ‘a bit much’ and not enough. Alex currently has a sitcom sitting with Clapperboard Studios.

Alex was the winner of the British Comedy Guide Pro Talent Awards for Performance (2024). She was also a Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year Finalist (2024), Channel 4 Sean Lock Comedy Award Finalist (2023) and Beat The Frog World Series Finalist (2023). She was shortlisted for the BBC New Comedy Awards (2023, 2024) and co-starred in White Chicks 2 at Soho Theatre (2022).

As a comedy writer, Alex was selected for the inaugural ITV Comedy Writers Initiative, and has written for the ITV show Piglets. She has also written for several upcoming animated feature films (more here), as well as BBC Radio Four's Dead Ringers, The Now Show and The News Quiz. Her jokes have been featured in The Guardian and The Telegraph.

Alex recently produced her first short film as part of the NFTS Writing & Producing Comedy Diploma - this was screened at the Cannes Indie Shorts Awards and at the BFI.

In her spare time, Alex likes to draw. Her artwork has previously gone viral.
